Get ready for a HUGE $10 billion, 800MW data centre campus coming to Australia 💥

IREN has revealed plans for its first Australian data centre campus, securing an 800MW transmission connection at Bundey in South Australia. The project is one of the largest ever data centre developments in the Asia-Pacific region.

The campus will be located 125km north-east of Adelaide and supported by a transmission connection agreement that secures four 330kV feeder exits, providing up to 800MW of capacity without requiring network upgrades.

Bundey sits at the centre of major transmission infrastructure investment in South Australia, giving IREN access to the scale of electricity required for next-generation AI and cloud workloads.

The project is targeting energisation from 2028. With direct fibre connectivity into key APAC markets including Singapore, Indonesia, South Korea and Japan, this is another major signal that Australia is emerging as a global market leader for large-scale AI infrastructure investment.
