Firmus secures 1.2GW of new renewable energy for its South Australian AI Factory campuses.
Firmus Technologies has signed a 12-year wholesale energy agreement to support the first phase of its AI Factory developments in South Australia.
The agreement includes 1.2GW of new renewable energy, 1.5GWh of battery storage and 600MW of firm electricity to power the company’s planned AI infrastructure.
The first phase of Project Southgate will see AI Factory campuses developed at Tailem Bend and Stirling North, with the two sites representing 2.7GW of planned AI capacity.
Firmus says the project combines AI infrastructure, renewable energy and battery storage to create large-scale AI computing capacity while supporting the stability of South Australia’s electricity grid.
