One of the world's LARGEST data centres is coming to Australia. OpenAI, creator of ChatGPT, to be its first major tenant.⚡️

Australia's AI and data centre industry continues to boom.

Just weeks after Sam Altman said Australia could become a global leader in data centres, plans are progressing for a huge new hyperscale AI campus in Western Sydney.

The proposed $7 billion development is expected to deliver up to 550MW of capacity and feature a purpose-built AI campus and GPU supercluster designed for next-generation AI workloads.

The project is being developed by NEXTDC.

OpenAI has signed an agreement with NEXTDC and is set to become the facility's first major tenant.

The development is currently progressing through the NSW planning system as a State Significant Development. If approved, it would be one of the largest new data centre projects in Australia and one of the most significant in the Southern Hemisphere.
